Marilyn Proctor Bartlett was born on May 22, 1948 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Norbert and Mary Proctor. She passed into eternal life on Saturday, April 1st at the age of 68.
Marilyn was a graduate of Memorial High School (1966) and Oklahoma State University (1970) where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and taught at Stillwater's Skyline Elementary School, one of the first "Open Space" schools in the area. In Tulsa, she taught at Grissom, Darnaby, Briarglen, Jarman, and Union 7th Grade Center. While at Grissom, she was chosen Teacher of the Year.
Marilyn was active in Children's Day Nursery Auxiliary, Union PTA, and a member and sustainer of the Junior League of Tulsa. As a Chi Omega alum, she was a former member of the House Corporation, past rush information chairman for the Tulsa Area and past president of the Tulsa Alumnae. She was chosen Outstanding Alumni in 1982. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist where she was in the choir for many years as well as director for Vacation Bible School. She was a former member of the Mariner's Sunday School Class and a present member of Faithbuilders where she formed many wonderful friendships. Marilyn and her husband Mike have been Lay Leaders in the church and currently are part of the Hospitality Ministry and are mentors in the Couple to Couple Ministry.
As a charter member of Shadow Mountain Racquet Club she enjoyed many friends through her love of tennis. Marilyn was the ultimate hostess, often hosting large family gatherings. She enjoyed her bunko group, various Bible Studies, lunch group and birthday group, and her OSU friends.
Marilyn was loved by many because of her positive attitude and determination. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at DaVita Dialysis Center where she was a patient for over 20 years.
She is preceded in death by her father, Norbert and two grandsons, Daniel and Isaac. Survivors include her husband, Mike, of 46 years, her mother Mary, son Matthew and son Jonathan and his wife Christa and 5 grandchildren. Sister, Carol Peter and her husband, Mike, brother, Bruce Proctor and his wife, Jennifer. Also many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00PM at Moore's Southlawn Funeral Home. A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held at 4:00, Thursday, April 6 at Asbury Methodist Church Chapel.
