Obituary

Born to B. R. (Speedy) and Ruth Rush on January 18, 1931, Marilyn R. Wright died February 22, 2026 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A Celebration of Life will be held at Moore's Funeral Home Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st St. in Tulsa, on Tuesday, March 10 at 11 am.

Marilyn attended Will Rogers High School in Tulsa and the University of Tulsa, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Marilyn was a talented artist, teaching classes at Waterworks and Tulsa Summer Arts. Her portraits were selected for shows in various locations, including at Philbrook Museum. She was also a master seamstress, learning to sew at a young age and taking great pride in sewing clothes and Halloween costumes for herself and her children. She grew up in College Hill Presbyterian Church and later attended Kirk of the Hills with her husband, Dean, where she was active in church organizations.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first spouse, Markham Johnson, her husband of almost forty years, Dean Wright, her brother, Dick Rush, and her sister Judy Gaston. Marilyn is survived by her sister, Ginger Tomshany, three children, Mark Johnson and his wife Dawn, Kris Armstrong and her partner Steve Buttles, and Scott Johnson, along with step-daughter Debbie (Bob) Tumilty; grandchildren Laurel (Brandon Rule) Johnson, Gabriel Johnson, Nicholas (Anne) Johnson, Brooks Eady, Chase Armstrong, step-grandchildren Amanda Jackson, Emily Tumilty and Douglas Tumilty, great grandchildren, August Rule, Sylvia Rule and Sabine Rule, and niece Kathy Roy Clanton.
