Obituary

Marilynn Ruth (Thompson) Dixon was born on January 28th 1934 in El Reno, Oklahoma to Leniel and Ruth (Preston) Thompson. She passed away on March 26th 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Marilynn is survived by her sister Alice Robinson and her husband Jack of El Reno, Oklahoma, Son Scott Dixon and wife Jody of Tulsa, daughter Stacey Dixon and husband Chris Sambrook of Gatlinburg, Tennessee and daughter Brenda Gear and husband Jon of Marysville, Ohio.

As a loving grandmother, she leaves a beautiful legacy for her grandchildren Kimberly Fritz(Oklahoma), Harper and Andrew Crockett (Tennessee) and Jamison and Jack Gear(Ohio). She also leaves behind three adorable great grandsons, Lucas, Noah and William Fritz.

Marilynn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, James Dixon, her parents Leniel and Ruth Thompson, her sister Frances Jepsen and her brother Leniel(Sonny)Thompson.

Marilynn lived a life of service. She loved and served God while attending 15th and Delaware Church for many years and then Park Plaza Church of Christ beginning in the early 1970's. She taught children's classes, VBS and volunteered in many other ways. Marilynn's career of service began by attending St. John's School of Nursing where she continued her entire career utilizing her skills as an RN in a variety of areas within the hospital and home health. Marilynn served her family as a loving wife and mother and an exceptional grandmother (Mimi). She also served her community and family as a Cub Scout leader, Camp Fire leader, and even a cheerleading sponsor.

Marilynn lived a beautiful life with her greatest blessing, James. They were married for 62 years and were an example to many. Marilynn's greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved reading mysteries, traveling, playing cards bowling and turning everything into a song. She was an amazing cook and no one ever left her home hungry.

In retirement, Marilynn once again spent her time in service taking great care of her aging parents, visiting the home bound, bringing meals to those who needed them and taking the time to care for her adult children and grandchildren whenever needed.

Marilynn will be remembered as a woman of faith and service. Her family will cherish the memories made and the love she showed to all.
