Marion Lucile Wilkerson,102, passed away on March 15, 2023 in Tulsa. She was born in Milwalkee, Wisconsin on August 2, 1920 to Major Sparks Gregpry and Lucile (Snyder) Gregory.
Marion moved to Syder, Oklahoma when she was 4 years old. She lived in Cordell, Oklahoma City and Hobart. Her parents divorced when she was 12 years old and her dad moved to Cordell and later married Violet Mayfield. Marion's dad died December 3, 1935 and her mother died, March 17, 1936. Marion graduated from Cordell High School in 1938 and Earl and Marion were married that very night on May 19, 1938. Earl went to WWII in 1944. Marion joined the American Legion and helped where she could with the war efforts. Upon returning from the war, they bought a farm in Cordell and then later moved to Tulsa. Marion took great pride in her home, cooking and being involved with her church. She was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church for 60 years, a member of the UMW and UMP Teenagers. She worked for the Tulsa County Election Board for 30 years. Marion was passionate about artifact hunting and was a member of the Oklahoma Archeology Society.
Marion loved her church family and they loved her. She spent many hours praying for her family and friends. She appreciated the many visits from her church friends when she was confined at home. Marion was faithful to watch Sunday School and church online when she couldn't attend.
The family wishes to thank her numerous caregivers but in particular, Shelley Worrell, Trisha Grinder, Abby Smith and Kendal Johnson.
She is survived by her niece/daughter, Lee Houten of Sheffield, England; grandsons, M. Cody Wilkerson, Baudette, MN and J. Tyler Wilkerson and wife Jackie, Lakeville, MN; great-grandson Gavin Wilkerson, Lakeville, MN and sister-in-law Evelyn Mann, Salisbury, MD; nephews Gary Mann, David and Tom Pingenot; great-nephew Adam Houten and his wife, Emma, Edinburgh,,Scotland; great-niece, Kim Houten and Sam Armitage of Sheffield, England; great-great nephews Elias Houten of Edinburgh, Scotland and Ephraim Houten, of Sheffield England; great-great nieces, Evie Houten of Edinburgh, Scottland,, Sohia and Ivy Houten of Sheffield, England; daughter-in-law, Shelley Worrell, her partner Kris Hart and their daughter Izzy Hart of Tulsa; and cousin, Jim Hill and his wife, Jo of Buffalo, MO.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl Parker Wilkerson, and son, Donavon G. Wilkerson, daughter, G. Ann Wilkerson, her daughter-in-law, Carol K. Wilkerson, grandson, Jeffrey Don Wilkerson, nephew/son, Thomas C. Wilkerson, and her two sisters, Sylvia Wilkerson and Betty Pingenot and niece JoAnne Portis.
Viewing will be 10AM-8PM, Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st Street, and the Memorial Service at New Haven United Methodist Church, 5603 S. New Haven, Tulsa, OK. Interment will be 1:30pm, Friday, March 24th at Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell, OK but just prior to the interment the funeral home will take Marion, per her request, on her last drag around the Cordell Courthouse "The Square."
