Obituary

Marjorie Alice Khilling Bohannan met her Savior on November 9, 2020. She was born on November 20, 1932 in Lavaca, AR to Russell and Margaret Khilling. She married her beloved husband, Jack, on February 11, 1955 in Ft. Smith. They were married until Jack's death in 2002.
Mom is survived by her four daughters, Cindy (Dick) Read, Polly (Brad) Richison, Kelly (Bill) Dudney, Tracy (Brad) Rinehart, her sister, Helen Sprohge (Erik), her sister-in-law Ruby Khilling, Rachel (Aaron) Diacon and sons Jack and Fynn, David (Nina) Read, Erik (Emily) Richison, Emily (Tanner) Taber, Kasey Rinehart, Will (Abby) Dudney, Becca Richison, Piper Rinehart, and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating as Valedictorian of Lavaca High School, mom continued working at First National Bank where she was entrusted with a key (yes, one key) to open and close the bank. In 1959 Mom and Dad took their young family to Tulsa where Jack continued his real estate career. Mom was in her element raising her four daughters with Jack. They shared their love of fishing, tennis, sports, the beach, and faith with their girls.
Mom and her siblings, Mary Beth, Jack, Helen and Jan grew up on a farm. They spent their summers picking cotton, swimming in the branch, and milking "Manus" the mean cow. Nicknamed "Cricket" in high school, as she was so fast on the basketball court, Marge's team won the state championship. She met Jack on a blind date and they were married six months later. Jack was a pilot and was determined his wife share his passion for flying. While on their honeymoon in New Orleans, they rented a small plane and flew out over Lake Pontchartrain. Mom described the plane as "a little tin crate that shook uncontrollably and whose door did not close." This little adventure was less than romantic!
Mom spent years as our chauffeur, PTA volunteer, cheerleading sponsor, and grammar police. She and dad loved our friends and made sure there was plenty of Charles Chips, party mix and Cragmont soda on hand...especially Diet Grapefruit soda.
Mom was a ranked Missouri Valley tennis player with a room full of trophies. Two of her favorite partners were Angie Braun and Willie Sue Wade. Mom and Dad also loved playing mixed doubles with Helen and Erik. Mom had a wicked forehand and loved taking her grandkids to play. Mom volunteered at the Bank of Oklahoma Tennis Classic for several years coordinating transportation. In her down time, she played bridge with tennis pros Dick Stockton and Gene Mayer.
In 1980 Mom received her real estate license and joined Dad's company, Boh-Mont, Inc. She later partnered with Cindy at RE/MAX then Coldwell Banker and was a runner up one year for Tulsa Realtor of the Year. Even last week she asked one of her caregivers if she had a home to sell or a need to buy!
Mom loved her church, Asbury United Methodist, and you could find her inviting the random person at Walmart to meet her at church. Mom took two mission trips to Estonia when she was in her 70s. The Estonians loved "Mimi" and asked about her for years.
Mom had the gift of hospitality and loved having her home filled with family and friends. She hosted many missionaries, Polly's co-workers, and dozens of birthday parties and family events. Guests would receive a tour of her vegetable garden and often enjoy eating the fruits of her labor. If you came to "Marge Bo's" home for dinner you should expect to enjoy her homemade yeast rolls and fried okra.

Her "sons", Dick, Brad, Bill and Brad, each played a different but important role in Mom's life. They could do no wrong and she would scold us if we scolded them! Brad Rich coined the term "Marging around" as mom rarely sat still. One of her greatest joys was her grandkids, twin great-grandsons and the arrival of Maggie Read in 2021. She instilled wonderful traditions and loved teaching them about random things like what it means to hit for the cycle, the difference between a blackberry and a boysenberry, how to find a shark's tooth or how to bait a hook.
Margie, Marge Bo, Mrs. Bo, Marjorie, Marge, Mimi, mom - you left a legacy of love for the Lord and love of family and friends. You will be greatly missed.
