Mark Paul Britt, a long-time Tulsan and an active physician, peacefully passed away on September 20, 2014. With a servant's heart, Dr. Britt always put others first. His compassionate care and mercy for his patients was only eclipsed by his love for his Lord, his family, and his friends.
Mark was born in Columbus, Ohio, and his family relocated to Tulsa in 1960. Mark and his twin brother Matthew attended and graduated with honors from Holland Hall. Early in life, both brothers dreamed to follow their father in medicine. Their educational paths diverged during their undergraduate studies but they united again at the University of Oklahoma for medical school and residency in internal and pulmonary medicine. Mark loved life and along with his wife took great joy in cheering on their son at university sporting and Boy Scout events. Although soft spoken, Mark was a faithful friend with an extraordinary gift of listening. With great empathy and a merciful heart, Mark continuously expressed Jesus' unconditional love. He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila, their son, James Michael, his mother, Caroline Britt of Tulsa, his brother and sister-in-law, Matthew and Carla Britt of Oklahoma City, and their children, Jolie, Caitlin, and Joshua, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Debbie Carman of Tulsa, and their children, Rachel, Katie, and Zac, and his father-in-law Jim Brandenburg of Tulsa. He is predeceased by his father, Dr. Clarence I. Britt, and his mother-in-law Calleen Brandenburg.
A celebration of his life will be held at the St. John Episcopal Church at 41st and Atlanta Place in Tulsa on September 30, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. The viewing will be Monday, September 29, 2014 at Southlawn from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to BE A HERO (
