Mark Carnino was born on December 1, 1954 to Ed and Helen Carnino in Pittsburg, Kansas. The family moved to Overland Park, KS in 1965 and then to Henderson, Kentucky in 1968 where Mark graduated from high school and attended junior college. In 1973, the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mark enrolled at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK and graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy in 1977. Mark knew in high school that he wanted to be a Pharmacist. His first job out of college as a Pharmacist was at Humpty Dumpty in McAlester, OK. Mark moved back to Tulsa and began a long career with K-Mart starting at the 51st and Harvard location. There he met the love of his life, Penny Pennington. He always used to say that he got her on the "Blue Light Special" that is if she didn't say she got him first! "Attention K-Mart Shoppers". Mark worked at other K-Mart locations in the Tulsa area and left in 2002 after 25 years. In the Spring of 2002, Mark went to work for Saint Francis Hospital until he retired in 2017.
Mark and Penny traveled extensively on NFA trips, other flooring trips, to their timeshare in Cancun for the last 20 years and other amazing destinations. They also have attended numerous concerts in and around Tulsa. If there was a concert, Penny had tickets! Mark played on the Agrico Softball team with his dad for years. Later years he loved golf and played with a group that called themselves the FOF's (Fun On Friday...) at Mohawk Park. He and Penny volunteered at all the major golf tournaments that came through Tulsa. Mark was often found bonding with his friends over a good cigar. He spent hours solving the world's problems with Pat and Neil at "Chuck's aka Charleston's" and Tyler, clearly more time was needed. On Saturday's during football season you could find Mark and Penny at TU Football games, whatever sport Payton and Lindon were playing and any game where Payton and Lindon were cheering for Bixby. Mark introduced Payton to The Three Stooges from the time she was old enough to watch tv. She has loved them ever since, "Who Threw Those Pies". He would have done and did do anything for Leslie, Amanda and his favorite girls Payton and Lindon. When his pool was open for the season, Mark was the biggest kid in the pool.
Mark and Penny were married at Sharp Chapel on September 26, 1981. This September they celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary. They have been blessed with the most incredible friends and family that they have shared their lives with.
Mark was proceeded in death by his parents, Ed and Helen Carnino and most recently his mother-in-law, Mary Gougler.
