Mark A. Champion, 65, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014. Mark was born March 23, 1948, Oklahoma City, OK., to Ward & Adele Champion. Mark was a member of the Southminster Presbyterian Church where he was active in the choir, the youth group and attended Dwight Mission Church Camp. He was a 1966 graduate of Edison High School.
After attending college at OSU and NEO,Mark joined the "Up with People" organization and toured all over the country. Upon his return, he joined the family-owned Service Welding Supply Company.
Mark retired in 2012, from Bob Hurley Ford. Mark was active in the Tulsa Cerebral Palsy Association where he performed in many "Red Glove Revues". From an early age, Mark was a stock car enthusiast. He was a regular at the Tulsa Speedway. Many of his race track activities included; color commentary, articles for the Speedway News and fireman paramedic.
He was a member of the Tulsa Press Club, and an active member of the Sheriff and Peace Officers Association of Oklahoma. Mark is survived by his brother, and his wife, Michael "Mick" & Susan Champion, and Nieces, Jennifer Champion, Tulsa, OK., Melanie Champion, & her husband David Goralczyk, Broken Arrow, OK. A memorial celebration of Mark's life will be held Friday, January 17th, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 3500 S.
