Obituary

Mark William Conrath was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on May 18, 1957. On Tuesday, April 27, 2021, he died peacefully at home with his wife, Sally, at his side. He graduated from Southside High School in Fort Smith, AR and with high honors from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville with a BS in Accounting and a minor in Economics. He was very proud of passing the CPA exam on his first attempt, no small feat. He never really enjoyed accounting but excelled in auditing and detecting nefarious activity. Professionally, he worked for Deloitte, Haskins, and Sells; Boise Cascade; Bethlehem Steel; Saint Francis Hospital; the Cardiology Clinic of Muskogee; Drumright Regional Hospital and Cleveland Area Hospital. He retired in 2015. Mark was an avid reader and enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including collecting model trains, shortwave radios, pocketknives, classic rock music, studying Civil War history, bird watching, and he loved vanishing points. He was a past docent at the Nature Conservancy's Tallgrass Prairie and he loved spending time in Osage County enjoying the abundance of nature. He played the harmonica and loved throwing his yo-yo.
Mark is survived by Sally, his wife of 36 years. He also leaves behind his two stepchildren, Sarah Tedder (partner Michael Perry) of San Francisco, California and Ryan Tedder (wife Jennifer) of Plano, Texas and their two sons, Greyson and Coleman. He also leaves a sister, Cynthia Shanker of Seaside Heights, New Jersey; nieces Jessica Stibitz and Elizabeth Brain and their families, also in New Jersey. Mark was also a stepson-in-law to Kari Mills of Stavanger, Norway. He was brother-in-law to Judy Miller (husband Doug) of Tulsa, OK, and uncle to their daughter, Carly Curtis, of Lawrence KS. He was brother-in-law to Tony Mills (wife Laureen) of Minneapolis, MN and uncle to their kids Regina and Elliot.
