Mark S. Denny passed away at the age of 68 on Sunday, February 10, 2019 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born September 6, 1950 and raised in Jenks, Oklahoma, he remained exceedingly proud of his hometown and stayed connected with it throughout his life, regardless of where he lived.
He proudly served his country overseas in the U.S. Army, receiving the National Defense Service and Vietnam Campaign medals and earning his Sharpshooter badge and other honors.
Mark graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Safety Engineering and entered the oil and gas industry, helping secure the safety of workers on oil and gas rigs and refineries throughout the region. After retiring from Sampson Oil Company, he continued successfully into other business ventures where he enjoyed meeting and getting to know people from all walks of life. Mark was always a "people person."
An avid sportsman, Mark competed throughout his childhood and young adulthood and loved boating, fishing, and playing golf and watching every kind of sports in his later years. He remained an enthusiastic booster of his alma mater OSU and a stubborn Green Bay Packers fan.
He and his wife Lori were also huge Jimmy Buffett fans, attending many live concerts around the country and dressing up with fellow "Parrotheads." Beyond the fun, Mark's long association with the Tulsa Parrothead Club, yielded positive change in the community where he helped raise thousands of dollars for local charities running its annual charity golf tournament for several years. He also served as president and as an officer of the club and was a member of The Elks Lodge #946.
Mark is survived by his wife Lori, sons Kyle Denny (and spouse Ashley) and Wade Denny (and spouse Janie), sister Donna Curley and brother-in-law Don Simmons; two grandchildren who were the lights-of-his-life: Peyton and Luke; plus nephews Eric Curley and Micah Curley, multiple great nieces and tons of friends
