Mark Douglas Tiernan was born July 5th, 1955 in Lincoln, Nebraska to James C. Tiernan & Marilyn E. Carlson Tiernan. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Barker Tiernan; his daughters, Claire Barker Tiernan and Evangeline Grace Tiernan; his grandsons, Aiden Michael Tiernan and Theo Stinson Bonewitz; his brothers, Robert W. (wife, Cathy), Gregory R. (wife, Ann), Steven C. (wife, Ludmilla), and Scott T.; his mother's sister, Lucile Otto; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He graduated from Noblesville High School in Indiana in 1973. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Depauw University in Greencastle, Indiana in 1977. In 1983, he received his Doctorate of Medical Dentistry from Oral Roberts University School of Dentistry. While at ORU, he served as the President of the American Student Dental Association and received the coveted Bob Barkley Memorial Award for Dental Excellence. In 1987, he was chosen as Outstanding Young Dentist of the year by the Oklahoma Dental Association. Dr. Tiernan practiced as a general dentist in Tulsa for 341/2 years. He had a long history of making short-term foreign mission trips, all the way back to Depauw University and ORU. He was a member at Victory Christian Center since 1979 and served in several volunteer capacities there over the years. He had a passion for singing, tractors, windmills, classic model cars and trains, and interior decorating and architectural design. In fact, he designed his Aunt Lu & Uncle Glen's house in Nebraska. His talents included the ability to do exquisite paintings and drawings with acrylics, water colors, pencils, pens, and charcoal. His interment will be at Fridhem Cemetery in Ceresco, Nebraska.
