Obituary

Marquita Lynn Knecht, 57,
of Tulsa, OK, passed away
peacefully surrounded by family
on Friday, June 7, 2013.
The rosary service and viewing
will be held on Monday, June 10,
2013 at 6:00 pm at St. Pius X. The
funeral service will be held on
Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 10:00
am at St. Pius X. Father Kastl will
be officiating and arrangements
are being handled by Moore?s
Eastlawn Funeral Home. Burial
will follow the services at Calvary Cemetery.
Marquita Lynn Layton was born in Pryor,
OK, on December 15, 1955, the only daughter
of Betty Layton and Jacob ?Jay? Layton.
She graduated from Pryor High School
and continued her education to receive a
Bachelor?s of Science in Family and Consumer
Sciences with a minor In Nutrition
from Northeastern State University.
Marquita was married to John William
Knecht on March 13, 1982; and have
been together for 31 years. The two met
while working for Safeway grocery store.
She then went on to become a teacher for
Union Public School District for 12 years.
Marquita received the Teacher
of The Year award for the Union
8th grade center in 2008 and was
able to impact many young lives.
Marquita was a wonderful
women who enjoyed sewing,
knitting, crocheting, reading, attending
St. Pius X and above all
else, teaching and taking care of
her family. She was also actively
involved in FCCLA, where she
was able to donate her time to
her students and the community.
Marquita is survived by: husband, John
W. Knecht of Tulsa, OK; children, John
Austin and wife, Katy of Bristow, OK,
Jacob, Jenna and Amber of Tulsa, OK;
grandchild, Asher of Tulsa, OK; mother,
Betty Layton of Pryor, OK; siblings, Russell
Layton of Huntington, AR, Mitchell
Layton of Dallas, TX and Monty Layton of
Copan, OK, and other family and friends.
Marquita was preceded in death by father,
Jacob ?Jay? Layton of Locust Grove,
OK and brother, Mark Layton of Adair, OK.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations
may be given to St. Pius X. ?Blue Ribbon
Facility for a Blue Ribbon School?.
