HAUENSTEIN, Martha John, (Wise) loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 5, 2015. She was 90. She was born in Montgomery, Alabama on January 11, 1925. Martha is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eric Alan and Melissa Hauenstein, two grandsons, Brandon Alan and Garrett Mark Hauenstein. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wendel M. Hauenstein; her parents Milton and Lucile Wise; her sisters, Sarah Nell Eckberg and Audrey Brandtjen; her son Mark David Hauenstein and her grandson, Jeb David Hauenstein. Martha grew up in Akron, OH and moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked in a bank. She met the man she was to marry one day while strolling through the park on her lunch break. Wendel went off to the war in Korea and they were married shortly after he returned from the war. They married in Cincinnati, OH on August 23, 1952 where they lived happily raising their two sons. Martha was involved in the community she loved. She served on the Women's Auxiliary for the Sharonville Fire Department for over 40 years and served as a crossing guard for the Heritage Hill Elementary School for many years. She was a familiar face at the polling booth and in more recent years enjoyed working the concessions with her friend, Pat at Playhouse In The Park, Music Hall, and Aronoff Theaters in downtown Cincinnati.
Martha has countless friends who she missed very much when she and Wendel moved to Tulsa, OK to be closer to their family.
