Obituary

Martha Reichard Hunter entered heaven on Monday, February 27, 2017. She and her identical twin sister, Mary, were born September 28, 1921 in Tulsa to James S. and Jewel C. Reichard. Martha graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1939 and attended Oklahoma State University and the University of Tulsa where she was a member of Chi Omega, maintaining life-long friendships with many of her sorority sisters. Martha married the love of her life, James N. Hunter, Jr. in 1944 and they enjoyed 58 years of marriage until Jim's passing in 2003. Together they raised four children and enjoyed travel, opera, favorite restaurants and growing award-winning irises. Martha was a member of Kirk of the Hills and her greatest joy was receiving Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in the late 1960's. She enjoyed participating in Bible fellowships as both a teacher and a student and was known to family and friends as a woman of prayer.

In recent years, Martha made her home at Country Club of Woodland Hills where she made many friends. In addition to Jim, Martha was preceded in death by her sister Mary, with whom she was blessed to celebrate 90 birthdays, as well as daughter-in-law Susan Rapp Hunter. She is survived by daughters and son-in-law Carol Roger and Pat and Janet Kendall of Tulsa; sons and daughter-in-law Ted Hunter of Houston, TX, and Bob and Colleen Hunter of Danville, CA; four grandchildren: Zack, Curtis and Jimmy Hunter and Laura Hunter. Zack and his wife, Becca, presented Martha with her first great-grandchild, Benjamin James, in 2016. Martha is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Judy Reichard of Oklahoma City, many nieces and nephews, and dear friend and "bonus" daughter, Kathy Dudley and her husband Darrell.

The family will receive visitors at Moore Funeral Home - Rosewood Chapel on Friday, March 3rd from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army. Private graveside service and interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
