Obituary

Martha Louise Lane passed away on July 29, 2023 in Sand Springs, OK at the age of 95. She was born on April 6, 1928, in Grenada, Mississippi to Ben O. Field, Sr. and Connie Susan (Trussell) Field
Martha graduated in 1946 from Hattiesburg High School in Mississippi. While Walter was stationed at Camp Shelby near Hattiesburg, he and Martha met at a dance and they were married on August 17, 1947. The couple then moved to Tulsa where they raised their family. Martha only had a job outside the home for a short time while Walter finished his degree at Tulsa University. She became a full time stay at home mom when their first child arrived in 1956. She was a nurturing mom and wonderful wife. She helped raise their (4) children and cared for her family.
Martha instilled and passed down the importance of a close family and taking care of one another. Something she continued to do her entire life. Martha also embraced the country lifestyle that she grew up in. She taught the family how to home can green beans, shell and put-up purple hull peas, shuck, clean and freeze corn on the cob. She even took her young children with them to pick vegetables from the fields at Conrad farms south of Tulsa. Later, she helped care for and tend to large vegetable gardens. Martha also loved to cook using the home style country cooking she grew up with in her home. She continued cooking large meals for her family most of her life.
Martha and her family attended Community Christian Church in Tulsa while their children grew up. Even though she moved to Mounds, Oklahoma in 1985, she regularly communicated with the church's members and supported the activities of the church. Community Christian Church was a very important part of Martha's life.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Walter G. Lane and her beautiful daughter Mary Catherine Lane. She is survived by her (3) children, David Ray Lane, Connie Sue Redman and James Robert Lane, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
