Martha Willene Silver, 91, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, February 18, 2019, at her residence in Broken Arrow, OK. She was born on Monday, June 16, 1927, in Amarillo, TX, to William M. and Olive V. (Whitacre) Paris. Willene was married 68 years to the love of her life, Robert Lloyd Silver, when the Lord called him home in 2016. She was a secretary at Ridge Crest Baptist Church for 10 years.
Raised during the Depression, Willene was content and humble. A servant, she served in the way that her relationship with, and dependence in Christ, was evident to all that knew her. She was exceptionally generous to others with her time, care and love. Being a housewife, was a job she took great pride in, and she was an excellent homemaker who enjoyed loving and nurturing her family. As a committed wife and mother, she prioritized her family's needs and likes above her own. She had a gift for true hospitality, and her home was well-kept and always open to family and friends. Willene also enjoyed knitting, reading and traveling.
Willene was active in, and enjoyed attending church, and passed her faith along to her children. She valued her friendships and relationships, and took great pride in her sons, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and always gave unconditional love and encouragement. She loved children, enjoyed taking trips to Falls Creek through the years, and teaching Sunday School for many years at Calvary Baptist Church and Ridge Crest Baptist Church. Willene loved the Lord, her family, and helping people. She had a steadfast faith, a kind, generous, giving spirit, and she exemplified grace and love towards everyone, and in everything she did. Willene will be greatly missed in the days ahead, but her spirit and memories will live on within each of us, because we were privileged to have her in our lives. There is no doubt that Willene will be rewarded to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant," and we who are saved, and know the Lord, have joy in our hearts, resting in the assurance we will be with her again, in Heaven, one day soon. What a glorious day that will be!
Willene is survived by 4 sons, David Silver of Santa Fe, NM, Danny Silver and wife, Mikki of Depew, OK, Rob Silver and wife, Sheri of Oklahoma City, OK, and Nubbin Silver and wife, Lisa of Muskogee, OK; 9 grandchildren, Dusty Silver and wife, Crissy, Travis Silver and wife, Kelisa, Laura Shoopman and husband, Patrick, Kelli Silver, Hannah Silver, Jacob Silver and wife, Liz, Jessica Poague and husband, Chris, Jenny Doyle and husband, Tristan, and Josh Silver and wife, Kelsie; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Tarkington of Sacramento, CA; and a lifetime of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Sandra Tarkington; and daughter-in-law, Sherry.
