Obituary

Marva Jean (Arbuckle) Tessmer
November 27th, 1935 - January 9th, 2021

Marva, 85, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on January 9th, 2021. Born November 27th,1935 to Mary Posy and John D. Arbuckle in Columbus, Kansas.
Marva was fun, kind, generous, spunky, wise, patient, and so many other qualities. She was a good listener, offered unbiased advice, would never judge you and always put others before herself. She cherished her family and friends. She enjoyed being outside in her flower garden, sitting on her back deck listening to the birds or watching the wildlife while she had her cup(s) of coffee or talked on the phone. Marva had a passion for cooking and baking. She made the best brisket, lasagna, German chocolate cake and much more. She also loved being by the water and having her toes in the sand. Never a fan of shoes, you would often find her barefoot. An ongoing joke in our family was if she even owned a pair of shoes. Marva liked taking pictures, reading, and writing letters or little notes. Traveling brought her joy. She was blessed to travel abroad and loved flying to the West Coast to visit her sister, aunts and cousins. Another favorite spot of hers was on our cousin Shelley's deck watching the cruise ships go by.
She graduated from Pittsburg High School, Pittsburg, Kansas-Class of 1953. Marva adored her classmates and kept in touch with many throughout her life. We were all so lucky to know her and to be loved by her.
Marva is survived by her three children (and spouses): Terry and Kathleen Tessmer, Clay Tessmer, Marni and Brent Garrett; four grandchildren (and spouses): Taylor and Aaron Tessmer-Mogan, Ali and Patrick Bolding, Sophia Garrett and Hudson Garrett, sister Karley Arbuckle Stone-Solario.
Marva's family would like to thank her friends and extended family for all the love, support, letters and calls. Marva truly felt the love; we all did. A special thank you to Oklahoma Methodist Manor/ Holliman Assisted Living for the exceptional care they provided to her (and to our family) over the past 2 years.
No services at this time, but Memorial contributions in Marva's memory can be made to St.Jude Children's Hospital or Disabled American Veterans.
