Obituary

Hewitt – Marvin R., age 87 died February 9, 2014. He was born March 14, 1926 to Melvin and Alma Hewitt in Cario, Illinois. On November 28, 1926, he was baptized and remained Lutheran his entire life.
He served in the U. S. Navy on Saipan in the Marianas Islands. He graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in 1950 with a degree in Geophysical Engineering. In 1950, he married his only love, his "Child Bride", Jene Baker. This union provided him with his first daughter, Dona Jene. He was a geophysicist with Amoco his entire career. His family was transferred many times. In 1955, they were transferred to Canada where his daughters Kay and Kim were born. He was a member of and served as President of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists.
In the spring of 2000, the Hewitt's took their entire family on a cruise to celebrate their 50th anniversary. He loved to travel with his "Child Bride" and they have taken 14 cruises and visited over 58 different countries.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Jene Hewitt, children Dona H. Sherwood and husband Charles L Sherwood, Kay H. Dorris and husband Patrick C. Dorris, Kim H. Saunders, and husband Mark A. Saunders. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Service 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2014, Fellowship Lutheran Church, 6727 S. Sheridan, Tulsa, ok.
