Mary Lynn Bostick Cook
June 3, 1934-October 16, 2024.
Daughter of C. D. Bostick and Mary Anne Willhite Bostick. Survived by her children, Glen A. Cook, Sr. and Cheryl Lynn Basgall, five grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Curtis Clifton "Cliff" Cook, brother James R. Bostick, and sister Judith Bostick Davis.
Born in Portales, New Mexico, her mother died in 1937. She was raised by her stepmother, Floy Williams Bostick. A graduate of Dallas Technical High School, Dallas, Texas, she met Cliff at the USO in 1953 when the US Navy assigned him to temporary duty at Dallas Naval Air Station. They married on February 27, 1954, in Dallas and she joined him at Naval Air Station Alameda, California, where their first child was born.
Upon discharge from active duty, they moved to Tulsa, initially staying with Cliff's parents on 96th Street. They lived in Tulsa and Owasso, the latter consistently from 1972, on land purchased by Cliff's parents in 1959.
Mary Lynn had a long career in driver safety education, first for the Tulsa Area Safety Council and subsequently managing her own company.
In addition to supporting Cliff's assorted hobbies, Mary Lynn kept a variety of birds. Living by herself since 2013, when Clifton died, she was adamant in her wish to remain in her home. On Saturday, October 12, Mary Lynn arranged to have her birds, including her talkative, Sun Conure named Chuckie, collected, and she passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 16th at home, as she had wished.
A memorial service will be held at Moore - Southlawn Chapel 9350 E. 51st St., Saturday, November 2, at 1 o'clock.
