Mary Etta Williams, age 90, passed away on August 11, 2024, in Vinita, OK. She was born October 6, 1933, in Ketchum to Barto Floyd Bullard and Thelma Maxine (Kauffman) Bullard.
She graduated in 1951 from Cleora High School in Cleora, OK. She loved playing basketball while in high school. After graduation, she went to work as an operator for Bell Telephone Company in Vinita, OK.
She met and married George "Tudor" Lawson in September 1953. They lived in Vinita and had five children. They were married until August of 1975 when George passed away.
She volunteered for the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon for several years.
She then met Joe Williams, and they were married in March of 1987. They lived in Broken Arrow for 35 years. She retired from AT&T in Tulsa in the mid-1990s. Mary and Joe were married until May of 2022 when he passed away.
She was a member of the CWA (Communication Workers of America), and she was a member of the Pioneers, a volunteer organization for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, son David Wayne Lawson, son Tommy Lewis Lawson, and three brothers and three sisters. Survivors are daughters Linda Blackwell and husband Jerry of Chelsea, OK., Bobbie Harper and husband Rick of Peggs, OK., son Joe Lawson of Vinita, OK., one sister Marjorie Faye Harlan of Ketchum, OK. She had seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great- great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
