Mary Lorine Gates, 82, of Catoosa, OK, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019. Lorine was born December 21, 1936, in Butler, MO, to Ernest and Mary Christine Adams. She worked as cafeteria manager for Tulsa Public Schools and was a member of Church of Christ in Catoosa. The love of Lorine's life was her husband, Leon Martin Gates, who passed away November 20, 2017. She lived for her family, and wanted to please them all. Lorine enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, talking to people, her pet birds, gardening, cooking, canning, sewing, gold prospecting, and she was an avid Thunder Basketball fan. Lorine is survived by her children, Mary Louise Queen and husband, Brooks of Broken Arrow, Steven Leon Gates and wife, Paula of Corpus Christi, TX, Robert E. Gates and wife Rita, of Broken Arrow, Ernest Nolan Gates and wife, Deborah of Bentonville, AR; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Louetta Enns of Hillsboro, KS. She would say since her husband's passing, "we were only married 65 years". Lorine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon; and her sister, Karen Adams.
