Mary Ann "Ya Ya" Jennings (Sauerbriet) died in Broken Arrow, OK on May 13, 2019 at the age of 68.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Beau Charles Jennings of Broken Arrow, OK; her sister, Vicky Lee Ballas and her husband Bill; her son, Beau Scott Jennings and his wife Jodi Loi of Norman, OK; her son, Cody Alan Jennings and his wife Rachel Lauren of Minneapolis, MN; her daughter, Jessica Lee McIntyre and her husband James Tyson of Winnfield, LA; and four grandchildren. Her parents, Victor Arthur and Helen Sauerbriet of Denver, CO, precede her in death.
Mary Ann Jennings was born on January 12, 1951 in Denver, CO to Victor and Helen Sauerbriet. She attended the University of Wyoming and later graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 1974 with a degree in Elementary Education. She married Beau Charles Jennings, her college sweetheart, in 1978 in Laramie, WY. After moving to Tulsa, OK, Mary Ann began working for Tulsa Public Schools as an elementary school teacher. The couple welcomed three children into their home and Mary Ann set about homeschooling them through their elementary school years. Her children remember her as a kind and gentle mother who taught them infinite patience, timeless wisdom, and unconditional love.
Mary Ann loved baking, gardening, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, visiting her home state of Colorado, and her family. She especially loved to go to various botanical gardens during trips to visit her grown children and her grandchildren. She was an endlessly optimistic individual who was passionate about sharing the light and love of her Christian faith with everyone she met. She was an active and dedicated member of her church and was especially eager to host international college students in her home for meals and holidays.
A funeral is scheduled for Sunday, May 19 at 6:00 pm at Grace Community Church in Broken Arrow, OK, with a viewing beforehand from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Pastor Doug Heck will officiate the ceremony.
