Obituary

Mary Louise Martin was born Tuesday, September 27, 1938, in Drumright, Oklahoma, and passed away Monday, December 29, 2025, in Sun City West, Arizona.

Mary was an active member of First Baptist Church in Sun City West, Arizona. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1956 and attended Tulsa Junior College. She loved music of all kinds, from country to classical, and especially enjoyed sharing her piano music at church.

In 1987, Tulsa Mayor Dick Crawford appointed Mary to the first Mayor's Commission on the Status of Women, advising on research, policies, programs, and advocacy for women in the Tulsa area. After retiring from the commission, she received the Pinnacle Special Honor Award for her years of service. In 1988, the Tulsa Chapter of Women in Communication honored her with a Newsmaker Award.

Mary devoted more than 30 years of her career to serving three generations of the Sneed family and their businesses. The family described her as "the caring presence whose dedication kept their family thriving across the generations."

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cletus Young and Lola May Young.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Martin (Brant Chandler) of Fort Worth, Texas; her son, Ben Martin (Heather) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her sisters, Barbara Maxwell of Westminster, Colorado; Jeanie Brandon of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Debbie Young; her brother, Dennis Young; her sister-in-law, Pat Schuessler of Edmond, Oklahoma; three granddaughters; one grandson; one great-granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 13, at 11:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
