Mary Margaret Parrish, 95, passed away on April 26, 2017. Margaret was born June 22, 1921 in Madill, OK, the eldest daughter of Clarence "Lefty" Bowen and Vera Davis Bowen. She married Worden W. Parrish on February 9, 1941 and together they had four children. Margaret lived in Madill with their two sons while Worden was overseas during WWII. At the end of the war the family moved to Norman, OK and Margaret worked at The Norman Transcript until Worden's graduation from OU.
The family moved to Illinois where the younger daughters were born. She worked as a secretary while in Illinois and used that experience to secure employment when the family returned to Oklahoma. Tulsa has been Margaret's home since 1962. Multiple positions held over the years included work at North American Aviation during the 60s while that company fulfilled contracts for the US space program and the Boeing 747 program.
Margaret was an accomplished artist, specializing in Chinese painting, and an exceptional cook! Margaret's first love and concern has always been her family, and she doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love for each of us has been strong and constant and will be with us always.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Worden and her sister, Grace Wood. She is survived by her four children, Earl Parrish, Medford, OR, Worden Parrish, Jr. and Carole Parrish, both of Tulsa, and Janet Parrish, Oklahoma City. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel. 51st & Memorial.
