Mary Louise Pittman passed away peacefully, at age 92, on September 8, 2016 in Owasso, OK, surrounded by those who adored her most. Mary was born on December 18, 1923 in a pumpers shack in Oilton, OK to Howard Arnold Shaw and Pearl Rosella Rhees. After graduation from Independence High School in 1941, she attended Hockaday College in Dallas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Vernon E. Pittman Jr and brothers J. Arnold Shaw and Herbert Philip Shaw.
Throughout her time on this earth, she was a lifelong antique collector, buying and selling her "finds" at the Tulsa flea market. She undeniably adored her family, her dogs, and was an avid member of the Red Hat Society. She had many passions, but most notably was her love of cruising, taking 37 total. She was known for all her "bling" (i.e. costume jewelry), matching hats and being dressed to the hilt which meant she loved to "shop till you drop". She was an absolute cutie in every way! Mary had a full zest for life and believed you should celebrate wildly.
Mary is survived by her children, Sue Ann Castro of Dallas, TX; Nancy Young and her husband Bob, of Oologah, OK; Valerie Pittman and her husband Jack Oxford of Tulsa, OK; and John Pittman and his wife Fatima of Flower Mound, TX. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and 1 great, great, great grandchild. She loved and was loved immensely by all who knew her.
A celebration of this precious soul will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel on Friday, September 16, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations, in her name, be contributed to SPCA of Tulsa, 2910 Mohawk Blvd, Tulsa, OK 74110 or the Oklahoma Firefighters Burn Camp, P. O. Box 287, Owasso, OK 74055 okffburncamp.org. Services by Moore,
