Mary L. Plaster, 91, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 26, 2019, in Tulsa, OK. She was born on August 7, 1927, in Tulsa, OK, to Ralph L. Messick and Ruby P. (Key) Messick. She graduated from Will Rogers H.S. in 1946. She married Lynn A. Plaster on August 7, 1946. Mary and Lynn were the long-time owners of Reliable Boot and Shoe Repair in Tulsa, OK. Mary was a volunteer Pink Lady at St John and St Francis Hospital. Mary and Lynn were chapter members at 29th and Yale Church of Christ. She was a member of The Steppingstone Foundation. After her husband's death, she was a medical assistant for Dr. Don Loveless.
Those who knew Mary know what a remarkable woman she was. She radiated inner beauty that was only matched by her gorgeous smile and beautiful, blue eyes. Mary had a delightful sense of humor, quick wit, and never saw a piece of chocolate she didn't like. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and her beloved dogs. She was a talented artist, and exercised her creativity by her lovely china painting. Mary had an adventurous spirit, and traveled the world. She especially liked spending time in Hawaii. She and Lynn enjoyed fishing, and owned a cabin on Grand Lake. They both would catch them, Lynn would clean them, and Mary would cook them. Their family have fond memories of fun, fishing trips to the mountains and beaches in Florida.
Mary was an active member of Park Plaza Church of Christ. She had an unshakable faith, and a kind, generous, giving spirit. She exemplified grace and love towards everyone, and in everything she did. She valued her friendships and relationships, and took great pride in her children, Marilynn Laukhuf and Dr. Rodney Lynn Plaster, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and always gave unconditional love and encouragement. Mary will be greatly missed in the days ahead, but her spirit and memories will live on within each of us, because we were privileged to have her in our lives.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilynn Laukhuf and husband, Stan of Dallas, TX; son, Dr. Rodney Lynn Plaster and wife, Kara of Tulsa, OK; 6 grandchildren, Mindy Rebholz, Lisa Pinnell and husband, Matt, David L. Plaster and wife, Vanessa, Kelly Laukhuf-Beckham and husband, David, Scott E. Plaster, M.D. and wife, Katherine, and Jacob R. Plaster; 4 great-grandchildren, Kate Pinnell, Graham Pinnell, Thomas Pinnell, and Claire Pinnell; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Allen "Bud" Messick and wife, Pat; and granddaughter, Laura A. Plaster.
