Our mother loved to laugh! Many times she would pull out a shoebox of jokes and cartoons from newspapers and Reader's Digests to lighten her day. And if you were lucky enough to be around, she'd share the joke out loud and laugh and laugh. Mary Ann was funny, quirky and generous. She was an outgoing person and loved having gatherings, and get togethers. Her ministry was food, particularly pies and brownies. She called herself a "pie angel" and shared her talents with families in times of joy and grief. For years, she organized monthly luncheons for her "Old Friends" group from Sunday School and church at Capital Hill, Sheridan, and Woodlake Assemblies of God Churches. Hers was a life of service and joy. Our beloved mother, Mary Ann (Scott) Poling passed into her heavenly father's arms on January 30, 2019 and we're sure she did it with a shout of joy!
Mary Ann was born in Tulsa on March 24, 1932 to Floy E. Scott and Dorothy Dean Berry. She graduated from Lowell Elementary and Central High Schools in Tulsa and married her first love, Chester Ray Poling, Jr. in a double wedding with best friends Billie Joe Earp and James McClellan on June 10, 1949. She and Ray started a family of three children and in 1964 she went to work for JC Penney and just about everything we ever owned came from "her store". After 35 years of service she took up a second career as the evening receptionist at Moore's Funeral Home, which surprised pretty much everyone. She tried to take very good care of all of her "guests" and laughed in the telling of funny stories about co-workers and happenings in her most unlikely work environment.
She is preceded in death by her beloved Ray and daughter Vicki Louise Poling Bradshaw. She is survived by her daughter Deborah Poling Scott, son Michael Ray Poling and wife Joan, and son-in-law Robert J. Bradshaw; by grandchildren Zachary Bass Douglas, Benjamin Bass Douglas and wife Laura; Rachael Poling Stockenberger and husband Hans; Christina Nicole Bradshaw; Michael Joseph Bradshaw, wife Sejal and son Dev; Robert William Bradshaw and Samuel Scott Bradshaw; by sister Paula Calvert, cousins Jackie Myers and Carolyn LeFlore; and numerous well-loved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2019, Moore's Eastlawn Chapel and services 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 Moore's Eastlawn Chapel.
