Mary Clendora (Burt) Thomas was born January 17, 1922 in Joplin, Missouri and passed away January 19th, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She is pre-deceased by her husband Erle (Tommy) Thomas and survived by her brother Charles Burt, sister Maty Boone, son and daughter-in-law Les and Janet Thomas, daughter Linda Thomas, her grandchildren, Tricia Brucks, Michael Thomas, Catrina Thomas, and Darcie Taggart, and great-grandchildren, Halle Brucks, Caden Taggart, Kale Thomas, Jake Thomas, and Ben Thomas.
While living in Joplin she met Tommy at a 1942 USO party and they were married the following year. Her son Les was born in 1950 and daughter Linda followed in 1954.
In 1964 and '65 she worked as an executive secretary for Red Barn Chemical in Shreveport, La. After moving to Tulsa in 1965 she and Tommy operated Old Village Drapery which was in business for the next 30 years. Upon retirement they had the opportunity to travel to many places including Mexico, Alaska, and Europe.
She enjoyed her family tremendously and was always happiest when she was with any of them. In January of 2012 we celebrated her 90th birthday with a party at Montereau Retirement Center which was attended by 65 friends and family members.
She lived her life to the fullest and was always available to friends and family for anything they needed help with. We loved her and she will be greatly missed by anyone who knew her. Service will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Christ United Methodist Church-Tulsa. Graveside service will be 2:00 P.M., Ozark Memorial Cemetery, Joplin, MO.
