Mary 'Joan' Whitson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 28, 2017. Joan was born in Franklin, Arkansas on December 5, 1936. She entered the work force in as an administrative assistant at both IPAA and USSA. Joan was an active member at First United Methodist Church in both the Builder's Sunday School Class and the Church Council. She was well thought of by so many and recognized as a genuine, caring woman who greeted you with a hug and left you with kind heartfelt sentiments.

She was predeceased by her parents, Wayne and Polly Rodgers Gaston, her sister Beverly Coggins, and late husband Donald Gene Elmore. She is survived by her husband, Preston Whitson of the home, sister, Barbara Gilmore of Tulsa, sister and brother-in-law, Jerry and Ted Martin of Wagoner, her son, Jason Wade Elmore and grandson, Max Brody Elmore of Georgetown, Texas, step-son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Brian and Karen Whitson of Enid, step daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Kevin Freiner of Tulsa, and grandchildren, Paige Whitson of Houston, Nathan Whitson of Shawnee, Blaine Whitson of Shawnee, Saxon Freiner of Burien Washington, and Addi Freiner of Grapevine, Texas.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017. She will be interred at Osage Gardens Cemetery, Skiatook, Oklahoma.
