Obituary

Mary Allene McAlister, 84, passed peacefully to be with the Lord on September 21st, 2019. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 7th, 1934, to Jimmie Brasel and Etta Mae Wallin, and was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gary and Jerry Brasel.

Mary graduated from Central HS in 1952 and began working in the Premium Audit Department at Silvey Insurance Company until she retired in 1997. Mary married the love of her life, Luther McAlister, in November of 1956 and took tender loving care of him during a long illness until the day he went to heaven in 2017.

Mary loved the Lord and was a devoted member of Park Plaza Church of Christ for over 50 years. Her loving Sunday School class took turns driving her to dialysis the past couple of years and it was the highlight of her day. She was forever grateful for everyone who gave a ride. Her Bible was never far from her side and her prayers were a direct line to the man upstairs because she was his Earth Angel. She earned her wings many times over. She spent several years teaching Sunday School, filling her car full of neighborhood kids to take to VBS every summer, and sharing God's love with all.

In 1958, Mary's first child was born, Debra Jo Carder. Four years later, Pamela Denise Bagley, came into the world making headlines due to the sudden birth at home. Luther was a hero that day as a stand in doctor and Mary bared the pain of delivery without complaint. She rarely complained and always had a smile on her face.

Mary was a dedicated care taker, and an amazing cook, well known for her famous cherry cheesecake and mouth watering roast beef dinners she prepared for her family on Sundays after church. Her "Grandma pancakes" were legendary among her grandchildren, always making them feel extra special, warm, and loved. Many fond memories centered around the elaborate meals she prepared for the extended family during the holidays. Mary not only served her family, as many friends were recipients of her delicious homemade treats.

Mary had a servant's heart and felt compelled to take care of the neighborhood park by keeping it litter free on her morning walks. She was always thinking of what she could do to make someone else's life better and frequently put others needs before her own. Her God given talent was the gift of loving everyone unconditionally. She was slow to anger and quick to forgive. Her Christ-like way of living was apparent to all who were blessed by her presence.

Mary's kind and gentle spirit led her to care for all creatures great and small. She spent many hours sitting on her front watching the birds and squirrels enjoy the food and water she set out for them daily. Mary's faith was strong and she wanted the same for all, especially her family. She kept us covered in prayer and looked forward to the day she could spend eternity in heaven. Her greatest achievement in life was her devotion to her family. She was the Rock, the glue that held us all together, while her guiding bright light showed us the way. Now she is our guardian Angel watching over us and loving us with all her heart until we meet again.
Her legacy of love will live on in our hearts.

She is survived by her daughters; Connie Pingelton and husband John of Broken Arrow, OK, and Debi Carder of Tulsa, OK, and Pam Bagley and husband Tony of San Antonio, TX.
Grandchildren; Melissa Mautino and husband Adam of Broken Arrow, OK, Jeremy Carder of Marion, KY, Jennifer Carder of Tulsa, OK, Jessica Waggener and husband Steven of Morganfield, KY, Aubrey Bagley of Houston, TX, Brett Bagley of San Antonio, TX, and Bethany Bagley of Houston, TX, and 5 great children; Madilyn Jirka, Elias Mautino, Jacob Carder, Kaylee Carder, and Halle Waggener.
