MaryAnn Staab, 90, of Tulsa, passed away peacefully at home on November 7. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Albert Joel and Mary Gray Buzzard, she graduated from Shady Side School of Nursing and began her career as a surgical nurse at LA County Hospital, where she met her husband, Dr. Richard C. Staab. They married in 1958 and shared 54 wonderful years together. A dedicated nurse and volunteer, MaryAnn founded the Oklahoma Oncology Nursing Society, Tulsa's Make Today Count chapter, and Registered Nurse Community Volunteers (RNCV), whose members donated over 80,000 hours serving local health organizations. She also served on the boards of the American Cancer Society, Youth Services of Tulsa, and the Community Service Council.
MaryAnn is survived by daughters MaryLynn (Michael) Temple of Evergreen, CO, and Christy (Michael) Capps of Tulsa; grandchildren Laura, CJ, Sarah, Cameron, Shannon, Cannon, Richard, Abbi, and Dylan; and great-granddaughter Kira. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Richard Staab, and daughter Cynthia. Known for her warmth, creativity, and gourmet cooking, MaryAnn brought people together and made every day count.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Moore Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st St., Tulsa, Oklahoma 74145 with Pastor Jeff Henson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Osteopathic Founders Foundation
