Matthew Richard Coutant, 39, died on Wednesday April 9, 2014, in Richardson, Texas of complications related to diabetes. His funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 12th at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Pastor JB Bond of Stillwater (Oklahoma) Bible Church will officiate. Moore Funeral Home of Tulsa, Oklahoma is handling arrangements.
Matt was born on December 9, 1974 in Houston, Texas to William Richard Coutant, Jr. and Sherry Coutant. He grew up in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where he enjoyed playing baseball and participating in science fairs throughout his school years. Matt attended Oklahoma State University as a National Merit Scholar. He received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, and delivered the student commencement address, graduating with honors. He then attended Texas A&M on an academic fellowship and earned his Masters in Electrical Engineering.
In May of 2000 Matt began a 14 year career with TriQuint Semiconductor in Richardson, Texas as a circuit Design Engineer. He later was promoted to Design Engineering Team Manager and contributed significantly to the success of many of their products. Matt remained an avid baseball enthusiast, enjoying spring training, the Rough Riders and many Rangers games. He enjoyed bike rides, traveling, and good friends.
Matt is survived by his mother, Sherry of Stillwater, Oklahoma, his sister Marie Johnston and her husband Eric, of Oklahoma City, and their children, Jack and Alex Johnston, and his grandmothers Margaret Coutant of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Lora "Sally" Haas of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Also surviving are well loved aunts, uncles, and cousins and his beloved friend Melinda McGrath of Hillsboro, Oregon. Matt was preceded in death by his father, William Richard Coutant, Jr and his grandfathers William Richard Coutant, Sr, and Charles W. Haas.
