She was predeceased by her husband, John Cleo Petray in 1998, her parents, four of seven siblings: twin sister Bernice Ward, Earnest Ward, Marjorie Ward, and Lorene Thompson. Also predeceasing her were one grandchild and one great grandchild. Maurice was a very loving and well loved person and a spiritually mature Christian lady. She and her husband were long time active members of Community Baptist Church (originally University Baptist Church), and both of them held leadership positions in the congregation for many years.
As a young person Maurice attended Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Oklahoma and then Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, where she enjoyed studying English grammar and literature.
She was a seventy year cancer survivor and served as a volunteer for Reach To
Recovery, a support program for breast cancer survivors, and also as a volunteer for Meals On Wheels. For a number of years she was active in PEO. Also, she was an avid and very skilled Bridge player for many years.
Her family is large and loving and we shall miss our beloved Mother so much until we meet again. We are filled with joy and thank our Lord Jesus Christ that she can now see clearly and that there will be no more pain.
