Maurice Verne Van Dusen Jr., 88, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024, surrounded by family. Born on December 6, 1936, to Reba and Maurice Van Dusen, Maurice lived a life of dedication, service, and love.
A proud graduate of Texas A&M University, Maurice earned his master's degree in engineering while embarking on an extraordinary 20-year career in the United States Air Force. His service to his country was a source of immense pride and fulfillment. Following his military retirement, Maurice applied his expertise as a pilot and engineer at Aeromet, where he worked for another 25 years.
Maurice was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Van Dusen, as well as his parents and his sister, Beverley. He is survived by his loving daughter Michele Van Dusen, and his son Michael Van Dusen, and his wife Katharine Caban Van Dusen, and his cherished grandchildren, Elisha, Connor, and Ashe Van Dusen, and his loyal dog, Izzy-B, who brought him companionship and comfort in his later years. They will remember him for his kindness, wisdom, and gentle humor.
Maurice was a devout Catholic and found solace in his faith throughout his life. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, sharing countless rounds with friends and family that brought him joy and camaraderie.
Maurice's life will be celebrated with a funeral service at Moore's Southlawn Chapel in Tulsa, OK on Monday December 23rd at noon, followed by interment with military honors. His family invites all who knew and loved him to join in remembering a remarkable man who dedicated his life to his family, faith, and country.
