Max Matheson, 88, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was born on May 4, 1936, as son to Clyde and Della Matheson. Max was born near the town of Ripley in Payne County, Oklahoma and peacefully left this world to be with our Heavenly Father on June 13, 2024.
Max grew up with ten siblings: Melvin, Wilma, Elton, Alma (Short), Grace (Tiny), Clyde, Jr. (June), Rosella (Rosie), Elsie, Huel (Bill), and Robert. Max and his siblings were raised near Ripley, Oklahoma, where he attended and graduated high school in 1955.
After high school, Max went on to study at Oklahoma State University. It was there that he not only received both a Bachelors and Masters Degree, but most importantly met the love of his life, Carole Lu (Grassman) Matheson.
Max and Carole were married on September 13, 1959. Shortly after they were married, Max and Carole moved to Sumner, Oklahoma to begin their careers together as teachers. They later went on to move to Tulsa, Oklahoma where Max enjoyed teaching biology/physiology and served as the Assistant Basketball Coach at East Central High School. Upon his retirement from teaching, Max began to run his and Carole's very own business full time, Matheson Pecan Ranch.
Max and Carole had several accomplishments throughout their careers, but they would be the first to tell anyone that their greatest accomplishment in life was the family they created. Together they had three sons: Matt David Matheson, Mark Darin Matheson, and Derek Mikel Matheson. Their family grew to include seven granddaughters, three grandsons, and one great-grandson.
Max was best described as a dedicated teacher who touched the lives of countless students, a passionate pecan tree farmer, and someone who loved spending every minute with his family.
Max is survived by his three sons; Matt David Matheson, and his wife, Angela, of Tulsa; Mark Darin Matheson, and his wife, Donya, of Sapulpa; Derek Mikel Matheson, and his wife, Chrysti, of Owasso.
