Melita Jane Smoot 73 went to be with her Lord Wednesday February 26, 2025 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was born April 18, 1951 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to Henry and Ella Woerdeman of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant Iowa High School in 1969.
Melita worked various jobs and loved to go to the dances with her cousins in her early years. She worked various jobs as a waitress. She married Roy Smoot in 1975 to this union was born Angela Lynn and Jacqueline Nicole.
Melita and Roy moved to Columbia, Missouri and then to Corpus Christi, Texas where she became a Mary Kay consultant. Then they moved to Iowa and went into the restaurant business in Libertyville, Iowa for several years. They then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and worked for various jobs until she found her passion as a Real state Agent for years. After that she started work at Home Depot where she was loved as a cashier.
Melita is survived son Corey and wife Jodi Smoot of Piedmont, South Carolina; her daughters Angela Ferguson of Owasso, Oklahoma and Jacqueline Smoot of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; her 6 grandchildren Brittany, Tyler, Kaleb, Ashlyn, T.J. and Lucky . and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her husband Roy's Sisters Gertrude Lewis of Palmyra, Missouri and Sarah and husband Tom Foss of Snellville, Georgia, sister in law Jean Smoot of Laramie, Wyoming and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Roy Smoot, her parents, Henry and Ella Woerdeman and brother Don Woerdeman and his wife Lee Woerdeman, her husband's parents Wilson and Lucille Smoot, his brothers Robert Smoot and Roger Smoot.
Melita was one of those people would do anything for anyone, she had a special heart for taking care of people. She was sweetest person to anyone she loved her family and her animals especially her new great-grandbaby Aliyah . Her grandchildren were her pride and joy as were her children. Family was everything to her.
