Obituary
Melvin Harold Rutter was born July 4, 1929 in Fall River, Mass. to George Harold Rutter IV and Margaret E. Corbishley and passed away at the age of 86 on September 24, 2015 in Tulsa, OK.
Melvin graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School in 1948 and was first string on the 1947 state champs football team playing left guard. He was in the Navy Reserve while in high school and joined the U.S. Marine Corp. July 20, 1948 and sent to Paris Island for Boot Camp. After 7 years of service, he went to Champaign, Ill. and the University of Illinois.
He was married to Betty Bacon Boyles, August 6, 1952 in Kankakee, Ill. Melvin moved to Swansea, Mass. and worked for Fram Filters in the accounting Dept., then in 1965, he was transferred to Tulsa, OK. to become Controller of the Industrial Filter Company of Fram Corp.
He was married to Aileen Joan (Jo) Lakey for 39 years until his death.
Melvin is survived by his wife Jo; children, Margaret Sherlyn, John Melvin, Kay Marie, Cynthia Lee, Joseph Michel Boyles, David Boyles & Susan K. Woodfin; 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. Saturday September 26, 2015 at Moore's Rosewood Chapel 2570 South Harvard, Tulsa, OK 74114, 918-744-1202.
