Obituary

Michael (Mike) Boyce Fine was born on October 18, 1948 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Boyce and Carolyn (Shelton) Fine. He attended Franklin Elementary, Bell and Whitney Junior Highs and graduated as a Ranger from Nathan Hale High School in 1966. From an early age, Mike displayed a gifted entrepreneurial spirit, inspired by his Grandpa, Red Shelton. Mike painted numbers on curbs and sold mistletoe door to door-the beginning of a lifetime of service and entrepreneurship that became part of his DNA.
Upon his graduation from Northeastern State University in 1970, Mike worked briefly for Wonder Bread before starting Fine Used Cars at 21st and Sheridan, in a building previously occupied by Griff's Burger Bar. In the late 1970s, while looking for land to expand his rental car business, Mike determined that customers needed safe, dependable parking near the Tulsa airport. In response, he launched Fine Airport Parking in 1983 at the location where it continues to serve customers today. Mike expanded the business steadily, constructing a state-of-the-art parking facility with over 2,200 spaces in 2000, providing a wide array of amenities and unparalleled customer service.
Mike also founded Fine Outdoor Advertising in 1986, managing it until a successful sale to Clear Channel in 1999. In 2008, Mike's vision turned to Denver, where he acquired land just south of the Denver International Airport. He spent the last ten years working to develop a plan for a parking facility that would bring the Fine brand of service to DIA-a dream that will become reality with the opening of a 2,800 space covered parking facility on December 18, 2017.
Outside of his business interests, Mike loved airplanes, airshows, and model airplanes. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and tennis. He was an avid photographer who enjoyed documenting business and family activities, especially the activities of his children. He also had a passion for dancing and was extremely proud to win the Judge's Award at "Dancing with the Little Stars" in 2014, benefitting Tulsa Advocates for the Protection of Children.
Mike was a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma Class IX, Leadership Tulsa Class 30 and was honored as one of Tulsa Business Journal's "Men of Distinction" in 2012. The Journal Record named Mike as one of "Oklahoma's Most Admired CEOs" in 2016. He was an active member of the Tulsa Rotary Club and an NSU Foundation Trustee. Mike and his family attended Life Church and Asbury United Methodist Church.
Mike loved his family, had a heart for the Lord and was an instant friend to everyone he met. He took great joy in bringing smiles to people's faces, and enjoyed passing out roses to brighten the day. He considered his employees and customers as blessings that he worked to take care of each and every day.
Mike is survived by his wife Sherry(Rogers), their son Jackson and daughter Morgan, daughter Nicole Fine, stepdaughter Lindsey (Recco) Bennett, and stepson Justin Jones (Jeanie), step grandchildren Jaindyn, Trey, Kade, Grayson and Hannah, his mother, Carolyn (Ronnie) Leaverton, sister, Karen (Chris) Hoover and aunt Patsy (Bill) Harris. He was preceded in death by his father, Boyce Fine and his sister Sandra Fine.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike's name may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Missions Fund or the Lafortune Tennis Association.
