Obituary

Michael Kollar (1925-2015)

Mike Kollar, long-time resident of Tulsa, died on September 27, 2015, the night of the lunar eclipse. He was ninety. Mike was born on May 13, 1925 in Clymer, a small coal mining town in the mountains of western Pennsylvania. He was the youngest of seven children. After graduating from high school he followed his childhood dream of learning to fly. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps during the last years of World War II. He became a pilot. After his last days of military service in Alabama, a newspaper ad for Spartan School of Aeronautics caught his eye. With all the wisdom of a twenty year old, he jumped on a bus headed for Tulsa Oklahoma. He thought it was the prettiest town he'd ever seen. While in Tulsa he had the good fortune to meet and marry Mary Ann Brockwell. She was his everything for sixty five years. They were married on September 23, 1950. They had two children. He loved being a dad. His new family inspired an outpouring of his innate artistic talents. He dazzled them with an incredible array of magical creations. He joined Madalene Church during its earliest years and found a second home there. During his life he was known for his playful and generous spirit. He was a man of his word. He was a man of his heart. Michael Dennis Kollar is survived by his wife Mary Ann, his daughter Kay and son-in-law Howard, his son Dan and daughter in law Gale, his sister Grace of North Olmstead Ohio, and many nieces and nephews. www.moorefuneral.com
