Mike is survived by wife JoAnn of Jenks, sons Christian (daughter, Hanna) of Broken Arrow and Taylor (wife, Meghan and daughters, Kensington and Campbell) of Southlake TX and daughter Stephanie of Broken Arrow.
Mike was a second-generation lighting specialist with over 40 years of technical lighting experience. His education consisted of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology and a Masters of Science in Management. Mike was a Sustaining Member of the Illuminating Engineer's Society and past President of the local chapter. He was recognized with lighting certifications and honored with the designation of "Certified Lighting Consultant" from the American Lighting Association. As he carried the LC status by the NCQLP and accepted by the IESNA, he had the opportunity to teach courses and share lighting experiences by teaching at Tulsa Junior College and Oklahoma State University.
Mike's expertise included lighting design, problem solving, technologies, codes, legislation and energy regulations. That, coupled with his background in lighting showrooms, manufacturers' representation, electrical supply houses and agencies resulted in his know-how and expertise being widely sought. Although honesty and integrity have always described Mike as a person, his greatest enjoyment was sharing lighting products and methods in problem solving lighting techniques as a resource to electrical distributors, engineers and electrical contractors. He enjoyed being a liaison for architects, interior designers and owners in the Art and Science of Lighting. Due to Mike's passion for lighting, a fellow colleague of the industry wisely knew to contemplate whether they had time to hear the short or long version before asking Mike a question.
