Michael Frank Meyer, 81, was born on September 7, 1944, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Frank and Virginia (Wright) Meyer. He passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of family, leaving behind a legacy of service, leadership, friendship, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Michael spent his childhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma, attending Elliott Elementary School before graduating from Edison High School in 1962. He continued his education at Oklahoma State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and became a proud member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. His love for Oklahoma State never faded, and he remained an avid Cowboys fan throughout his life, faithfully supporting OSU athletics and holding season football tickets for many years.

Upon graduating from Oklahoma State and receiving his commission in the United States Army, Michael worked briefly as a Marketing Trainee for J.C. Penney in Tulsa while awaiting active duty. Following basic training, he married his first wife and began a distinguished military career. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam War as a Company Commander and Battalion Intelligence Officer. In recognition of his leadership and service, he earned the rank of Captain and was awarded the Bronze Star. After returning from Vietnam, he served as Post Transportation Officer at Fort Riley, Kansas.

Following his military service, Michael built a successful career in both the private and public sectors. He worked in the trucking industry for several years with Ryder Truck Rental and other transportation companies in San Antonio, Houston, Fort Worth, and Dallas before returning home to Tulsa.

Michael then began what would become a remarkable 25-year career with the City of Tulsa, serving as Public Utilities Manager. He oversaw the City's water, sewer, refuse, and stormwater utilities, helping ensure the reliable services that countless residents depended upon every day. He was respected for his leadership, dedication, and commitment to public service.

On June 5, 1983, Michael married Brenda Jo (Hill) Meyer in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they shared a wonderful marriage built on love, friendship, and mutual respect. Brenda, went on to become the City of Tulsa's Benefits Administrator. Their careers allowed them to travel extensively throughout the United States and Canada attending professional meetings and conferences, creating memories they treasured together.

After retiring from the City of Tulsa on December 31, 2003, Michael and Brenda fulfilled their dream of living on Keystone Lake, where they enjoyed boating, traveling, attending live concerts, and spending time together. They were longtime members of the Northeastern Oklahoma Miata Club, where Michael served as president for two years and formed many lasting friendships. During retirement, he also enjoyed working seasonally with H&R Block.

Michael's interests reflected his curiosity and appreciation for life. He was an accomplished pianist, an avid stamp collector, loved to travel, and jokingly admitted to enjoying collecting "stuff." He remained active in numerous organizations throughout his life, including:

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Jarvis Meyer Jr. and Virginia Elizabeth (Wright) Meyer; his brother Stephen Patrick Meyer; and his beloved wife, Brenda Jo (Hill) Meyer, who passed away in 2009.

He is survived by his sister, Stacey Meyer Brown of Sugar Land, Texas; his stepchildren, Stephanie Wykoff and her husband, Brandon, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Ella Rotramel and her husband, Michael, of Heartland, Texas; and Ray Smith II. He is also survived by his niece, Lauren and her husband Scott Kennedy, and his nephews, Patrick and his wife Natalie Brown and Michael Brown, and great niece Beckett Brown.

Michael was a proud grandfather to Matthew Shipman of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Megan Brizendine and her husband, Shawn, of Wagoner, Oklahoma. Nathanael Rotramel and Joseph Rotramel are both from Heartland, Texas. He was especially proud of his five great-grandchildren-Lexie, Kolby, Coniyah, Harmoni, and Harper Jo-whose lives brought him immeasurable happiness.

In his later years, Michael became a cherished member of the Prairie House Assisted Living and Memory Care family in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. There, he formed many meaningful friendships with fellow residents and was deeply appreciated by the compassionate staff whose kindness, care, and companionship enriched his final years. His family will always be grateful for the love and dignity shown to him by everyone at Prairie House.

Michael will be remembered for his intelligence, quiet wit, steadfast leadership, patriotism, and generous heart. Whether serving his country, leading his community, cheering on the Cowboys, enjoying life on Keystone Lake, or simply spending time with those he loved, Michael lived a life marked by integrity, dedication, and purpose.

His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Services for Mr. Michael Frank Meyer will be 10:00AM Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the Moore Southlawn Chapel, 9350 East 51st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Final resting place will be Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
