Mildred Joyce Bains Eden was born on September 19, 1927, to Jesse Cecil and Mattie Paris Bains in a sod house in Joy Coy, Baca County, Colorado. She passed away on April 27, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 96.
Joyce's childhood memories took place in Chelsea, Oklahoma where she graduated from high school in 1945. She treasured her parents, three older sisters and three younger brothers all of whom preceded her in death.
At the age of 18 she married Leonard Paul Dick and her joy in life was being a homemaker and mother. When the children were older, she began a work career at TG&Y and later at McCrory's, Anthony's and concluding at Ehrle's Party Supply. Joyce especially enjoyed working as the manager in the fabric department at TG&Y ordering fabric and notions as well as helping customers.
Playing games with her children, grandchildren who called her Nanny, and great grandchildren who called her G-Nanny was her favorite pastime. In fact, family was what was most important to her in life. Joyce was especially close to her daughter Donna who for years tended to her mother with an extremely self-sacrificing devotion and loyalty.
Joyce is survived by two children, Danny Dick (Ruth) and Donna Williams (Paul), four grandchildren, Bryan Dick (Angie), Kevin Dick (Liz), Lindsay Clyma (Jason), and Heather Miller (Dave), eight great grandchildren, Hudson and Brady Dick, Haley Kennison (Taylor), Clayton and Hayden Hutto, Addison and Avery Clyma, and Harris Miller. She will be deeply mourned by all who knew her.
