Obituary

Mildred Rugene Lewis left this life on the first day of July, 2020 after a brief illness. Mildred was born on the 15th day of December 1923 to Virgil Jackson Carter and Callie Idell (Wolfe) Carter. She was one of four children, one of which survives her, Neva Jo Beck of Satellite, Florida. Her brother, Verdell Carter and her sister, Maxine Carter both precede her in death. She leaves behind several nieces and nephews who she dearly loved.

Mildred was married to W.H. "Bill" Lewis for 61 years. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2005. Life for them was a wonderful adventure on the pipeline, moving around meeting lots of people they would call friends. Bill eventually started his own company out of Okmulgee where Mildred and Priss would run parts for Bill. "Miss Priss" in case you are wondering, was their four-legged kid they loved dearly. In fact, Mildred wrote a book about her precious Priss. It was about this time they built the ranch in Porter. They had a sweet life there. Bill bought Mildred a couple of donkeys. They were so happy. When it became too much for Bill and his health, he moved Mildred to Broken Arrow, where he designed and built her a home in Eagle Creek.

Mildred always loved family and friends but Bill came first. She never made any bones about who was first in her life. She told me that her one goal in life was to join her sweetheart in Heaven so they could pick right up where they left off.

A very special thank you to my granddaughter, Kayla Gaylor, who helped without fail during the nights with Mildred, without her there would have been no rest and to our team Rebecca, Donna, Tammy, and Rich of St. John Ascension Hospice, who assisted with Mildred's care and was such a blessing to our family...Thank You - God Bless You.

Graveside service will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5111 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa, OK 74145. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
