Mildred Dobbs Thornton was born January 21, 1921, in Dora, Missouri to William Marion Dobbs and Ella Moffis Dobbs. Mildred had one sister, Madeline Hilburn, husband Gene Hilburn and one brother, Buford Dobbs, wife Virginia Dobbs.
Mildred was predeceased by her parents, brother and beloved son-in-law, Gary Mallory.
Mildred and D. H. Thornton had five daughters. Rosemary Thornton of Houston, Texas, Peggy Armstrong, husband Robert Armstrong, of New Orleans, Louisiana, Judy Stewart of Denver, Colorado, Nancy Thornton of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Linda Mallory of Claremore, Oklahoma.
Mildred had ten grandchildren, Evelyn Robinson, Douglas Rice, Lori Hillburn, Barry Rice, Paul Stewart, Eric Mallory, Shawna Downs, Lisa Homes, Christina Reinert, and David Aduddell. Mildred had 24 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
After retiring from TG&Y, Mildred began enjoying her first love, children. She took care of children in her home for many years and enjoyed and loved each and every one of them. Mildred was deeply loved by all you knew her and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM at Moore?s Owasso Chapel and also before the service at 1:00 PM at the church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Rejoice Freewill Baptist Church with internment to follow at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
