Miller Sheffield, resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away January 14th, 2024 at the age of 94. He was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on January 13th, 1930 to Helen Sheffield and Miller Sheffield, Sr. He was married to Phyllis Sheffield for 58 years. They had three children: Julie Lindemuth, Mark Sheffield, and Elaine Ozment. He had 11 grandchildren: Benjamin, Joseph, Aimee, Caleb, Katerina, Wyatt, Colleen, Luke, Aiden, Wylie and Finnegan. He received his B.S. in petroleum engineering from the University of Tulsa, a M.S. in petroleum engineering and PhD in math from Texas University and was a member of Pi Epsilon Tau petroleum engineering fraternity. He was a petroleum engineer who worked in the oil industry for 33 years and worked for Amoco Research and Jersey Production Research in Tulsa, and Gulf Oil in Louisiana. While at these companies, he was sent overseas to consult for countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Russia, Siberia, Argentina, England, and Canada and retired in 1989. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was the recipient of two bronze stars and the United Nations Service Medal. He was past president of Tulsa Camera Club, served in many Boy Scout troop assignments, volunteered in the Tulsa Public School system, and was a volunteer photographer for Asbury Methodist Church. He was a longtime member of Asbury Methodist Church and a member of the Seekers Community. He was an avid world traveler and made all his own arrangements. He and his wife traveled to some unusual destinations and covered seven continents and over 70 countries. Other interests were photography, reading, fishing and the financial market. Memorial service will be held at Asbury Church in Mason Chapel, 6767 S. Mingo, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74133 on Saturday January 20th, 2024 at 1:00pm with a reception afterwards.
