Morgan Lee
Johnson
July 18, 1989 – April 9, 2026
Morgan Johnson's spirit left her body on April 9, 2026, after 36 years of being a beacon of kindness and love to her family, friends, and all who knew her. Morgan was born July 18, 1989, at St. John Hospital in Tulsa, OK and passed away at the same hospital on April 9, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of Deborah Austin and Brent Johnson, and sister of Lindsay Johnson.
Morgan attended Tulsa Public Schools at Mayo Demonstration School, Thoreau Demonstration Academy, and Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences. She was blessed to have wonderful and caring teachers who never discouraged her from striving to achieve her goals. So, she went on to obtain two associate degrees from Tulsa Community College, a B. S. Degree in Geography from her dream school, Oklahoma State University, and later a B.S. Degree in Business and Accounting from Northeastern State University. At OSU, she was a member of The Paddle People and was also awarded Residence Hall Association - Community Council Vice President of the year.
Morgan was a long-time member of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church where she sang in the Youth Choir and participated in many other activities. She cherished her experiences with other church members, especially on retreats at Camp Egan. In addition, she spent a summer working with underserved youth in Tulsa through Project Transformation.
Morgan worked for two years as a staff accountant at Sutherland Global Services where she made good friends and developed close relationships with her co-workers. At various times in her life, she was active with piano lessons, Challenger League baseball and basketball, Tulsa Children's Chorus, and volunteering at Emergency Infant Services.
Morgan was a passionate sports fan, especially when it involved OSU Cowboys and Cowgirls. She rarely missed an OSU football or basketball game and made numerous trips with her family to bowl-game destinations including Texas, Arizona, Louisiana, Tennessee, and California. She attended major league baseball games from San Diego to Boston and many stadiums in between. Her other favorite teams included the Oklahoma City Thunder, St. Louis Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and more recently the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, after her little sister moved to Philly.
At a very young age, Morgan adopted Barney the purple dinosaur as her special friend, and they never parted ways. Over the years, and with wear and tear, various additional Barneys were added to her "gang," serving as constant companions, counselors, and a personal support group.
Morgan was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bettye Austin and Robert Austin, and Juanita and Arlon Johnson, as well as her aunts, Brenda Johnson and Lendell Benson Ellis.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her younger sister Lindsay Johnson and husband Sam Heyman; aunts Barbara Johnson and Sonya Austin Nagle; uncles Jim Jewell and Drew Austin (Amber); and numerous cousins and other relatives.
Morgan's Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on Saturday April 25th at 1:00 p.m. at Boston Avenue Church Tulsa, OK. Feel free to wear Morgan's favorite colors purple or orange. Memorial contributions in her honor are suggested to Boston Avenue United Methodist Church.
