Obituary

Nadine Goodrich Gregory, 89, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died on Thursday, December 1, 2022 after a long battle with vascular dementia. She passed away peacefully in McKinney, Texas with her loving son, Jack, and daughter-in-law, MaryAnn, by her side.

Nadine was born on September 7, 1933 to parents Baxton Goodrich and Clytie Spencer Goodrich in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Nadine attended Lowell Junior High and graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1951. In high school, she was fond of going to the YMCA Hi-Y club and taking coneys to the movies.

She married her high school sweetheart, Donald (Don) Gregory, in 1951. The two had one son, Jack, together in 1960. Nadine and Don divorced in 1982. Nadine later went on to meet her longtime partner, Clyde (Chuck) Hendrix, and they remained together until Chuck's death.

In 1952, Nadine began her career as a secretary at Texaco. After working in almost every department within the company, Nadine retired from Texaco in 1993. She was very proud of her career and found great meaning in both her work and the friendships she formed during this time. During her time at Texaco, Nadine joined the social sorority Delta Upsilon with her long time friend Suzie and many other close friends.

Throughout her adult years, Nadine enjoyed traveling, going out dancing, trips to the casino, and activities at the lake (swimming, water skiing, and fishing). She was able to take many vacations, but always said that her trip to the Holy Land was the most meaningful to her. Nadine loved to dance, and even in her later years would frequently tell her doctors and other caregivers that she could "outdance" any of them!

But more than anything, Nadine most valued her family and friends. She never forgot a birthday- always making a point to send cards to her loved ones each year. Nadine enjoyed her time spent with family and looked forward to family gatherings and visits when her son Jack and grandchildren came into town. She was a proud Grandma who loved spoiling her granddaughter Augusta and grandson Spencer, and she was fortunate enough to earn the title of GG when her great-granddaughter Halli was born. Nadine also spent much of her time talking to those she loved on the phone, and these were moments that she cherished- even in her later years as the dementia set in.

Nadine was preceded in death by her parents Baxton and Clytie Goodrich, brother Glenn Goodrich Sr. and sister-in-law Zola Goodrich, sister Ruth Harris and brother-in-law Don Harris, brother-in-law Perry Seeley, nephews Kenneth Marshall and Kent Keeter, and partner Chuck Hendrix. Still considering Don's family to be her own, she was also preceded in death by her father-in-law Floyd S. Gregory and mother-in-law Neva Gregory, sister-in-law Lola Dee and brother-in-law Jack Dee, brother-in-law Floyd (Buddy) Gregory and sister-in-law Margaret (Marg) Gregory, nephew Robert Gregory, and niece Patsy Castle.

Nadine is survived by her sister Melba Seeley, son Jack Gregory and daughter-in-law MaryAnn Gregory, granddaughter Augusta Gregory Lawless, grandson Spencer Gregory, great-granddaughter Halli Gregory-Black, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was well-loved and will be dearly missed!
