Obituary

October 26, 1938 - June 6, 2016

Nancy Nanci Thomas Calderwood, who had a unique ability to make a friend of everyone she met, passed away on June 6, 2016.
A lifelong Tulsan, she was born at Morningside Hospital to Dorothy Jane Thomas and E. L. Thomas.
In 1953, Nancy contracted the Polio Virus and had outstanding rehabilitation at the Hospital in Warm Springs, GA. That handicap had no chance of slowing down her adventurous spirit.
Nancy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and friend, always putting others before herself. She had the most generous, loving heart and touched many lives with her presence. Her family and friends will always be thankful for the gift of her life.
Nancy LOVED to meet people and to travel, starting up a conversation with anyone about anything, anywhere. She loved to try new foods, places, and experiences. She was always positive, grateful, and jovial.
Nancy dedicated herself to helping and loving others as a student at Lindenwood University, as a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and as the Business School Queen at the University of Tulsa. She was an active member of Zoo Friends and Quota International and was a volunteer at St. John Hospital, where she always had time for a hug.
From 1981-2007, Nancy was the face and voice of Tulsa Town Hall, using her organizational skills and the force of her friendly personality in her role as Executive Director.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her adoring mother; her loving husband of 45 years, James Cameron Calderwood; faithful son, William LaRoque Calderwood; brother, Roger LaRoque Thomas and his wife, Georgeanna, their children and grandchildren Brax, Jeff, Jamilyn, Sadie, Sage, Avery, Sidney and Brenner; and stepsons, Matthew Alan and Todd Cameron Calderwood.
A memorial service will be held on June 16, 2016 at 1:00 at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, 1301 S. Boston Ave., where Nancy was a lifetime member. The family is grateful for your generous condolences, and in lieu of flowers, please send donations in Nancis memory to the Tulsa Town Hall Endowment Fund, P.O Box 52266, Tulsa, OK 74152.
