Nancy Louise Young died peacefully and went to be with our Lord on January 22, 2026. She passed away in her hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 77, surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born on May 2, 1948, at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa. She was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in January 2023 and courageously fought the disease, for which there is no cure.
Nancy graduated from Central High School and Draughon's School of Business. She retired in 2013 after more than 35 years as an accountant in the oil and gas industry.
Nancy was a devoted wife and a very caring, loving, and family-focused mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister to her small but faithful and close-knit family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger G. John (Sue) and Mary L. Pittman (Vernon).
She is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob/Bobby) H. Young, Jr.; her children, Kari L. Hendrix (Randy) and Robert H. Young III (Cyndi); her granddaughters, Shayli R. Hendrix and Elena M. Dudley (Nicholas); and her great-grandson, Nico P. Dudley. She is also survived by her sisters, Susie A. Castro and Valerie S. Pittman (Jack), and her brother, John A. Pittman (Fatima), along with extended family members and many, many friends who will miss her dearly.
Following her retirement, Nancy loved spending time shopping with Kari and Shayli. Laughter always filled the room when the girls were together - whether shopping, cooking, baking, or simply relaxing. Nancy also cherished traveling with Bob on business trips, family spring breaks, and adventure vacations. She enjoyed camping in the RV, meeting people on her walks with her beloved pups, Millie and Lizzy, and was famous among her camping friends for her peanut butter cake and for relaxing at Happy Hour with a margarita.
In addition to being known as "Nancy," she was lovingly called "Gammy," "Boodle," and "Hugger." It was often said that she gave the very best - and most sincere - hugs.
Nancy truly cared about people. During recent hospital stays, she was often more interested in learning about her caregivers and their families than talking about herself. She made friends everywhere she went - through church, work, shopping, camping, and traveling. She never met a stranger and was never afraid to start a conversation. Nancy and Bob frequently attended Friday evening dinners at the Wagoner Elks Lodge, where friends eagerly awaited one of her famous hugs. Nancy didn't shake hands - she gave hugs. One of her dearest friends once said, "She wasn't my forever friend, but she was my friend forever."
Nancy was baptized and confirmed Lutheran. She met Bob at First Lutheran Church in Tulsa, where they were married in 1990, and later attended Joy Lutheran Church. She volunteered at Bit by Bit Therapeutic Riding Center in Oologah, Oklahoma, assisting riders in the arena and later serving on the Board of Directors. Nancy's dedication to the organization's Mission and Vision was always close to her heart.
