Naomi "Joan" Ezell Bills, age 78, was born on February 1, 1948, in Council Hill, Oklahoma, and passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Naomi Dorothy Hornsby Ezell and Harley Clifford Ezell; her brother, Wesley Bluford Ezell; and her sisters, Shirley Maxine Ezell English Reid and Dorothy Lee Boss and Grandson, Aiden Joseph Gehman
She is survived by her children, Mark and Michelle Bills, and Allyson Bills. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Nathan and Melissa Bills, Justin Bills, Reece Gehman, and Saryn Gehman, and a loving great-grandmother to Logan Bills and Evelyn Bills. She is also survived by her siblings, Betty Wenona Ezell Holmes Claytor, Harley Edward Brodie Ezell, Thomas Ray Ezell, and Norma LaVonne Ezell Wells, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, dear friends, and loved ones.
Joan graduated from Hitchita High School in 1966. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics from California State College, Long Beach in 1971, and later completed her Master's in Education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, in 1996, along with her Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certification.
She was a beloved school teacher and LPC who dedicated her life to serving and encouraging others. Joan had a deep love for coaching and playing basketball, softball, and volleyball. She enjoyed teaching scrapbooking classes, leading children's Sunday School, and volunteering with several nonprofit organizations including Joy in the Cause. She was especially gifted in sewing and could create just about anything with her hands.
Joan and her husband, Wesley loved to travel and treasured the many places they visited throughout their marriage, including Israel, Ireland, Belize, Italy, Spain, and Ethiopia.
Her life was marked by faith, service, creativity, and a deep love for her family and community. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
